MatVal conference: A value chain approach to materials research & innovation, 7-8 February 2013, Rome
Alliance for materials
7th and 8th of February 2013 - Rome (Italy)
The materials community in Europe is now equipped with a multi-stakeholder forum to share one single view on materials needs and speed the implementation of innovations.
MatVal (a value chain approach to materials research & innovation) is an EU-funded project started in 2012 by A4M (Alliance for Materials).
It aims to integrate the diversity of ideas in materials developments across sectors to create synergies and develop a coordinated materials R&D programme for Europe.
• How to move from research to innovation in materials R&D?
• How to cluster R&D along the value chain?
• What are the implications of the EU initiative on raw materials?
• How to create strong partnerships in the European materials community?
In order to develop an integrated and efficient materials R&D programme for Europe, these and other questions will be discussed at the MatVal launch event: "Alliance for Materials – A value chain approach to materials research and innovation” on 7-8 February in Rome.
The event will bring together policymakers, R&D experts, material manufacturers and end users, featuring high-level speakers including:
• Maria Da Graça Carvalho, MEP, member of the European Parliament’s Committee on Industry, Research and Energy, and rapporteur on Horizon 2020
• Raffaele Liberali, Head of Department MIUR
• Herbert Von Bose, Director Industrial Technology at the EU Commission DG Research & Innovation
• and industry partners from the value chain together with the relevant experts from the materials community
Major sectors addressed in the conference are: Energy, Transport, Health, Construction, Creative industry
The 2-day event will also offer plenty of networking opportunities – and the ideal chance to pick up some valuable information on the European Materials R&D&I landscape.
MatVal is the crossroads of materials developers, manufacturers, suppliers and end-users in industrial sectors, research societies and companies.
