“I’ve been enthusiastic to learn that Bessemer Gold Medal was awarded to Giovanni Arvedi. For all of us, who have been working in the R&D sector of Iron&Steel industry for many years, ARVEDI can be taken into example as a wise and brave entrepreneur, who has always believed and keeps on believing firmly in the important role played by Research & Innovation to foster the achievement of success of Iron & Steel Enterprises. During all these years of cooperation, we have been sharing Arvedi‘s basic belief, according to which the new steel-making process technologies realized in the Cremona Plants, created and persistently promoted by Arvedi himself, represent a deep change in the concept of steel industry: from an industry based on a large scale economy with big Plants and big mass production and consequent relevant environmental/energetic problems, up to a high-tech mini-mills production lines industry with high flexibility and specialization, and drastic reduction of harmful emissions and energy consumptions. “In line strip production” and “End-less strip production” Plants in Cremona, do represent Arvedi’s great success; they also constitute a “model” and an accredited guide for R&S operators and entrepreneurs interested in improving the technical and economic competitiveness as well as the social image of the modern Iron&Steel industry which future, once the current economical crisis will be over, is certainly brilliant if based on technological innovation”
