IDENTIFICAZIONE DI PARAMETRI OTTIMALI DI MODELLAZIONE NELLA PROGETTAZIONE ASSISTITA DI COMPONENTI DI SICUREZZA PER IL SETTORE AUTOMOTIVE

The use of the finite element method for the analysis of the mechanical components is by now, thanks also to the enormous development of the hardware, a very common and consolidated strategy. The advantages that this practise permit, in terms of reduction of the times and the costs of development are well known. These advantages, however, are often nullified by the tendency to detail excessively the description of the physical phenomenon in order to analyse the most important local aspects. In this paper it has been analysed the relation between detail of FE modelling and accuracy of the solution in the case of the axle component of truck vehicle, trying to identify a methodology of modelling of compromise between theaccuracy of results and calculation time. The axle has been analyzed by using models of increasing complexity, up to the modelling of the bearings and of the hub with contacts.
