Centro Sviluppo Materiali's lab for computational modelling and analysis is based on a cluster of powerful workstations. Three servers are used for massive elaboration and that implies the availability of 36 high performance processors featured with parallel software.
The following advanced and relevant available commercial software tools for modelling and analysis are installed in the elaboration center and used for specific applications in such techological fields as automotive, mechanics, aerospace, construction and metallurgy:
  • Pro-Engineer Wildfire 3, Master Series V12, RINOCEROS, AUTOCAD are used for CAD modelling applications;
  • Advanced Commercial FEM codes for structural stress analysis are available: MSC NASTRAN, MSC MARC, ABAQUS;
  • PAM-QUICK-STAMP/SIMEX, PAM-STAMP/LS-DYNA are used for direct and incremental analysis of the metal forming process, including tubular and sheet hydroforming;
  • TUB3 for tube rolling simulation;
  • PAM-SYSWELD for heat treatment and welding simulation;
  • FLUENT for internal and external fluidodynamic simulation, including combustion process and furnace design;
  • PAM-CRASH/SAFE, LS-DYNA3D for the impact and crash dynamic simulation in the transport sector, including injury evaluation on passengers and pedestrians;
  • ADAMS for multi-body kinematic and dynamic analysis of complex mechanical systems;
  • PROCAST for the analysis of foundry processes for automotive/aerospace components production
  • MSC SUFERFORM & SUPERFORGE for the simulation of massive mechanical components produced by forging process;
  • HYPERMESH complementing the CAE product for the FEM model construction and modification. Related software of the HYPERWORKS modules family are also available;
  • OPTISTRUCT for structural topological and topographical optimisation of component/substructure under static and dynamic loads.
