Technological Offer
Those tools allow a strong support of the client in its problem solving activities or research projects aimed at developing new lay-out solutions, new processes or operation practices for innovative steels and, at selecting the suitable refractories and ceramics materials. Thermal diffusivity and viscosity measurements on both metallic and oxide materials give unreplaceable contribution to the thermodynamic and kinetic modelling of the melted materials. These models have progressively evolved from study and research to the application to complex systems devoted to the BF, AOD and EAF process control. Accordingly, Centro Sviluppo Materiali is able to offer today: - a BF Monitoring system able to support the plant operators decisions as far as it concerns the following parameters or problems:
- Thermal status – control of outlet gas (CO/CO2 ratio), permeability, heat losses;
- Thermal status;
- Silicium control;
- Parametrs correction after slip operations in case of stop of pulverised coal injection;
- Problems and failure of ancillary plants.
- an AOD process control system based on a model which calculates process parameters, such as decarburasion velocity and related gas production rate.
- Smelting Reduction Process control, for which the CSM models permit to calculate and define:
- the energy for sustaining the process generated by the post-combustion of CO in the oxidizing zone of the reactor;
- the oxidizing and reducing zones, where the final reduction of iron ore occurs and must be fluidodynamically separated;
- the energy generated in the oxidizing zone to be transferred to the reducing one.
