Lab & Facilities
Pilot lines Spray cleaning unit This unit works within the 50-70 °C temperature interval and simulates the degreasing-rinsing-drying working cycle, so permitting the development of the optimal cleaning cycle for a given painting process and evaluate the efficiency of cleaners.
- Roll painting unit
This unit has been deveoped in order to simulate treatments and coating typical processes of the sheet/coil coating industry. For instance it allows to study and develop thin permanent or washable coatings, conversion coatings, prephosphating, coloured and transparent organic coatings on carbon steel, stainless steel, aluminium, etc.
üHot rolls calander unit
The facility, which contemplates an IR tunnel and a hot pressing rolls section with working temperature up to 200 °C, is devoted to study sheets adhesive bonding processes and to define the whole fabrication cycle of sandwich panels.
All the above mentioned pilot plant units can manage up to 1200x1800 mm sheets, with a thickness between 0.3 and 1.5 mm. •Coated products characterisation lab This lab is endowed with equipments for the standard characterization and special tests for specific coated applications for domestic appliances, automotive, architecture, etc. The coated products can be evaluated in terms of: Thickness; Hardness; Abrasion and scratch resistance (e.g. Mar and scratch tests, Taber test, Scrubbing resistance,…); Aesthetical characteristics (e.g. Gloss & colour); Chemical and environmental resistance (e.g. spot staining test, salt spray, UV-con, …); Formability (e.g. T-bend test, Erichsen drawing, Swift cup, Strip draw test, ..); Impact resistance.
The lab is also equipped for the measurement of the bond strength and durability of adhesive joints and of the damping and vibrational parameters of hybrid composite panels.
